As the monsoon took a scary turn in Western Maharashtra, unexpected aggressive floods took over the city of Kolhapur and Sangli. The cities are left paralyzed with many dead and more than 2 lakh people displaced with no basic necessities like food, clean water, and clothes. These people included innocent children and women who are fighting for their survival.

More than 500 small villages have been dangerously affected. More than 50,000 homes have been destroyed completely. The water levels have covered entire buildings in some areas. There is no electricity, no water supply. All the highways are entirely covered with only the top of the trees visible. No fuel or vegetation no medication is reaching the city as it is very difficult to enter from any side at all.

Close to 20,000 animals are feared dead and many dead animals are floating on the water, sewage water mixed with river water has created extremely unbearable situations, snakes and other water animals have made their way into the residential areas.

In a normal monsoon in Kolhapur, the city gets flooded when the water levels of Panchaganga river rise to 35 ft and it crosses the danger mark when it rises to 43 ft. But this time the river has crossed the daunting mark of 56 ft. making it the worse flood of all time. These numbers speak for themselves while evaluating the worsening conditions of Kolhapur and Sangli.

The resources to help are very minimal. We need your valuable help not only to revive the basic condition of living but also to help the volunteers be physically fit to go out and help the needy.

RSS Jan Kalyan Samiti is looking after the flood relief. We would be helping flood affected victims by conducting Rescue work as well as Post relief activities such as distributing rehabilitation kits, conducting medical camps and arranging for food and shelter.

We urge you to help us with whatever donations you can. We will be grateful forever. RSS Jan Kalyan Samiti is a registered charitable trust with a valid pan number. Donations are eligible for deductions under section 80G. All the funds received will be entirely used for flood relief.
